Payroll Administrator (UK)

Location: Bishops Cleeve/Staverton

Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Payroll Administrator to join our HR team where youll support us in delivering accurate, compliant and timely payroll and employee lifecycle administration. This role will be based between our sites in Bishops Cleeve and Staverton.

The Role:

As a Payroll Administrator, you’ll play a key role in delivering transactional payroll support and ensuring a seamless experience for employees through the HR Service Desk. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you’ll support core payroll activities including preparation, input and validation, while ensuring all processes are completed accurately and within required timelines.

You’ll act as a first point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing clear and timely resolution while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Alongside payroll activities, you’ll support employee lifecycle processes such as onboarding, contractual changes and leavers, ensuring all payroll-related data is accurately maintained within our systems.

This is a varied role where you’ll also contribute to continuous improvement of payroll and HR processes, support reporting and governance requirements, and get involved in wider HR and payroll projects as needed.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring experience from a busy payroll or HR administration environment, with a strong focus on accuracy and handling sensitive data. You’ll be comfortable working at pace, managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

Strong organisational skills and a customer-focused mindset are key, particularly when handling payroll queries through a service desk environment. You’ll have solid IT skills and experience working with HR systems, with exposure to Workday being advantageous. A proactive approach to improving processes and maintaining high standards of compliance will set you apart.
